Kelvin Old Boys FC were formed in 1975, playing at first in the Dunmurry League. They were quite successful in this league winning a number of league titles and the major knock-out cup competition, the Nelson Cup.

They joined the Northern Amateur Football League in 1983 and finished runners up in Divisions 2C and 2B to give 2A status by the 1986-87 season. The 1986-87 Season also saw Kelvin winning the Cochrane Corry Cup.

At their first attempt at Division 2A, Kelvin took the title and in the following season they lost the title following defeat in a play off.

1991-92 season saw Kelvin reaching the Final of both the Junior Cup and Junior Shield, winning the Shield but unfortunately losing the Junior Cup to West Belfast Rangers after a replay.

Currently the 1st team are playing their league football in Division 2A of the Amateur League and the second team competing in division 3E.

Last season Kelvin ended a trophy drought of 19 years by winning the Junior Shield after an extra time victory over St. Patricks YM at Ballyskeagh. Trailing 1-0, Kelvin turned the match around with goals from William McAllister and Richard Marks. Hopefully it will not be another 19 years before the next trophy arrives!
